    SUMMARY

For the past 30 years, DRI has been collecting monthly water samples in the Truckee River. Though the project is funded by the State of Nevada (Division of Environmental Protection), samples are collected along the entire reach, from Tahoe City, California to Nixon, Nevada (see NDEP's Site Map).

In response to short-term data needs, the location of the sample points often changes from year to year. Currently, we sample at the following locations: Tahoe City, Above Donner, Above Martis, Below Martis, Above Juniper, Farad ,Circle C, Idlewild, Vista.

    Analytes include:

    TDS, TSS, pH, DO, temperature, EC, SiO2, HCO3, CO3, Cl, SO4, Na, Ca, Mg, K, NO2, NO3, NH4, TKN, OPO4 , TPO4, color, and turbidity.

Data is reported to NDEP's Bureau of Water Quality Planning and stored in the STORET system. Additionally, the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF) performs monthly sampling and stores the data on their website.

The principal investigator for this continuing project is Alan McKay.
