Truckee River

The Truckee River plays a vital role to quality of life in California and Nevada. Its cold, clean water provides habitat for many species, drinking water for urban areas, water for irrigation, and recreation opportunities. The basin's diversity in landscape–from 3000 meter snow-covered peaks to a terminal lake in the desert–presents many scientific challenges.

The Desert Research Institute has been performing valuable environmental research in the Truckee River basin for over 30 years. This site outlines a few of DRI's Truckee River projects. As you browse the following pages, feel free to download reports and data, and to contact the appropriate principal investigator.
